KYOTO- THE CAPITAL CITY!!!

I LOVE LIVING IN THE CAPITAL CITY! I am so close to the center of everything. The palace is in Kyoto so naturally I am in KYOTO! I had to escape the Buddhist Monks. I know that I read the Buddhist Scriptures and everything but they don't back down. All they do is try and change my life. I can't conform to one way of living. I always have to change my life around. Either way, when I am in Kyoto, I feel free and amazing.

I AM A COURTIER!

I love being a courtier. I get to go to Noh and Kabuki plays- V.I.P of course. And I get to read original Buddhist scriptures. Yesterdy, the emperor's successor and I had an Ikebana lesson, Tomorrow, I am having a non-denominational tea ceremony.
However, the best part of being a courtier is the clothes! I get kimono's specially made for me. I even them died to my color liking. Overall, I live a privelaged life as a courtier, I hope that it goes on until I die!

I love to read your blog. Because I am a peasant I don't live the way that you do. Reading your blog makes me feel like a COURTIER!

YES, I HAVE FRIENDS!

Here are a bunch of my FAVORITE and NOT-SO-FAVORITE friends.

Ki-no-Tsurayuki: He is my favorite Japanese Poet

Emperor Ichijo: THE EMPEROR

Sei Shonagon: My ARCH NEMISIS

Empress Akiko: THE EMPRESS

Kenshi: Kenshi is my daugher, but she is also a great friend.

EDUCATION!!!

When I was just a child, my mother died. I lived with my brother and father. I never really knew how much my father favored boys over girls. Or maybe it was just my brother over me. My father thought girls were to look pretty and be refine, nothing else. However, he felt that boys needed a good education to become well rounded. So he hired a tutor. For my brother, and not for me. I felt that I needed an education so I hid in the teaching room and listened. I was not about to pass up the chance at an education, even if my father didn't want it.

Even though I never had a real teacher I think I am better at reading and writing than anyone you'll ever meet. Because I worked so hard I feel that I know how hard life really is.

Please, I had a good education and I am a better writer. Your life isn't that hard. Get over it. We will settle this in the courtyard with a HAIKU BATTLE!

The Fujiwara Clan

Here is a map of my clan's history. Starting with the founder and ending with my great ancestors! I am so happy to be part of the most powerful family in Japan. Everybody knows everyone and I am basically royalty. We "dominated" the government from 794 to 1160. It is so amazing. We started the first Shogunate in 1192. Basically, "we run this joint." Our regency was the centerpiece of the Heian Era. Aside from us, the Taira and the Minamoto clans were powerful as well, but we were the best.

Without us, there would be no Shogun, or Shogunate. So basically without us Japan would not be well off. With the Emperor being a figure head. YAY!

Nobles own ALL of the Land

It's so unfair that the nobles don't pay taxes, and get free land just because they made a vassal. I live with the Emperor and I still have to pay taxes. Aren't I above them in this feudal society? Now, I am questioning my level in society. Is the shogunate above me? Maybe I need to talk to the Emperor.

I know that the Daimyo have Samurai's to loan out and that's why they get free land, but why do the nobles. I AM A NOBLE TOO! I am part of the Fujiwara clan, the most powerful family, I should own land.

I own land because I traded it for protection. If you don't know what that is, IT IS A VASSAL . Wow, you're a dumb little writer aren't you

WOW! THOSE PESANTS COULD DO A BETTER JOB HEMMING MY KIMONO!

How hard is it to hem a kimono. All you do is pin and sew. It took this one merchant woman about a week- my servant can do it in an hour. I can't believe my servant was sick. Just because they don't know me DOES NOT mean that they can slack off! I need that Kimono tomorrow for my Chanoyu. I am gonna go crazy if it's late. And I have to go down to the tailor myself because she is not allowed within the palace gates. My life is so hard. I can't believe I have to run my own errands.
When the Emperor dies, his son will have a regent. Why can't I have a regent to take care of things- not to write, but to run errands. I SWEAR, IM GONNA GO CRAZY!!!!
